I've been searching for an image from James Careron's Avatar for parts of yesterday and today, and to be honest far too much time wasted.
I really enjoyed the movie, but my interests are on top of that. There is one shot in particular with one of the best...features I've seen in a movie, animated or otherwise. Bravo to movie's digital artists for creating such a life-like animation! It was of a female's perfectly contoured athletic Na'vi buttocks, to put it politely. It was when Jakesully was sent to capture a banshee-dragon. She was stalking the creatures, lying on her stomach, watching them before the dragons saw the party. She was an unnamed character, as far as I know. The image I attached will give you some idea, perhaps. I seem to have found all sorts of moments just before and right after.
The shot I am looking for should have been easy to find online, because of its sexy nature. But all my Google searches, safesearch on or off, came up suprisingly empty. And here I thought I had all the sexually-deprived Internet on my side.
Under the comments (and I hope this isn't offensive plagarism) one user writes:
"I could have sworn it was already clear in the film that they used the ponytail tendrils for sex - I'm sure I remember them showing the two make the connection, and there's certainly the "you'll go blind" joke if there was any doubt. In fact, just after watching the film I commented to someone that it make the Na'vi connections with the various animals decidedly disturbing - especially since the efforts to make these connections with the animals are forced on creatures that are trying to fight them off."
I don't recall any "going blind" joke in the version of the film I saw. Do you?
A commenter says: "Uh, then what is Sigourney Weaver talking about when she says early in the movie to the folk trying out their Avatars: Don't play with that, you'll go blind."
And on that page I link to, among other comments, people have criticised the screenwriting and dialogue, especially the "It's cool, I'm there" line. I was shocked these people didn't seem to realize that this was good writing, in the sense of being true to their established characters. Jakesully is a self-described simpleton, and the woman has only a rudimentary understanding of English (although very good). And then, a screenplay -- even an award-winning one -- can't be judged by the standards of traditional literature. At its most effective, it is meant to convey storytelling to all the various creative minds involved during production.

Today, being Sunday and making it to church, I was given much to think on. This time, anyway. It is always a treat when I accidentally receive a thought-problem, and this one is not the source of my blog, but is a reaction to wanting to blog about my conclusions, because I enjoy the blogging (writing) process.
When I began this blog, there were a few subjects I wanted to stay away from (such as religion), because they distracted from the basic "themes" of my blog, enthusiastic ideas (such as science fiction, zoology, ethics, gaming, books) applied to everyday life. My everyday life, anyways. However, that wasn't a easy choice to make, and this is somewhat a retraction. But not exactly.
There are many people who would consider my blog as it stands pretty eclectic and disordered. On the reverse side I have identified at least 5 major areas I chose to omit from my blogging previously: 1) religion 2) human sexuality and my preferences 3) my personal life and relationships 4) my job when I have one and 5) my health and related biological functions
I am very serious about my spirituality, and I think of my observations in that realm the most important blogging subject I could have. Thus, I haven't been very happy excusing myself from that discourse. Further, my attitude about human sexuality would be the most fun to blog about. It is grating that it so easily discredits a person, and so my sense of humor that I revel in privately I choose to hide. Likewise, my family and love life (and job, in some cases) mean an enormous amount to me, but is too susceptible to personal invasion, while my health is a vital subject, quite literally in many cases.
Did I forget any big area of self-censored blogging material?
Henceforth, I think it would be my uneasy policy to be more direct about some matters, such as my girlfriend (do you mind if I name you, lover baby?) and my job. Also, this website (blogspot) is really kind to allow one user to have multiple blogs, so I imagine I will begin a blog adjacent to this one focusing on religious matters. The reason for the schism is pretty obvious. In case I have readers of natural history matters they might not want to be immersed in highly controversial religious matters. My sexual humor and my health remain a bit more personal.
It may seem distinctly odd for a churchgoing person to have an active sexual (dare I say kinky?) side. Oh, well. That's me.

A quick (Safeseach off) google image search suggests that "pulchritudes" has become a sophisticated euphamism for soft-core artistic porn.

I think it is important to clarify I don't see this starlet as any ideal of beauty, although I certainly find her attractive. In fact, I think the movie's creators went to huge lengths to make sure I do. It is an undeniably energetic, playful, exuberant, and sexy scene to watch.

This came as a surprise, and confound it I don't have enough computer access to watch it!
Apparently, Jennifer Aniston makes a comment (or joke? I dunno) about her having had dated Jon Stewart once upon a time.
I am rather suprised to find this available simply point-and-click on the web. I missed the whole rise of uTube type videos. I was first in college, and otherwise occupied, then buried in the near poverty of an internship in which I "gave up" most media for a while.
Its not a popular opinion to have, but I don't think TV and movies should be as explicit as they are. Especially in the case of bedroom scenes, but also in regards to language, violence, and other adult-themes. (I'm a little in doubt about the violence: it has been observed that kids and teens are pretty violent individuals, and this is a nondestructive outlet, comparable to shooting things in video games. With that said, such violent digital slaughter should be directed away from police and human beings when possible. Regarding games for youth.)
Personally, I want to support freedom of choice and expression, in fact I prefer a open society with the least limits on personal choices, but that also includes social responsibility. It comes down to for me to the idea of consent. Rape is by far the most well-known nonconsensual act, but I think the ideas apply to any public intercourse (pun intended) if it has the reasonable chance of affecting others without their being aware that it might happen.
I enjoy watching older movies, such as John Wayne, because they are refreshingly discreet. Of course the audience knows that there is plenty of bedroom antics going on behind the scenes, but there are some things we just don't need to see. I recall hearing my parents talk about the "community standards" for TV when they were kids, no active bedroom scenes, and no ads for tampons, no underwear models, or any of that. It just wasn't done. UNLESS we, as consenting adults, have specifically chosen to watch a movie with explicit material. And here, I'm not even talking nudity, I'm not even talking about hot and heavy athletics, I'm talking about the average non-nudity "simulated sex" bedroom scene in a broadcast television drama. But couldn't we all use less "erectile disfunction" and "herpes" ads?
Let me be clear. I ENJOY UNDERWEAR MODELS. I THINK AN HONEST PORTRAYAL OF SEX IS IMPORTANT. and CONSENTING ADULTS SHOULD BE ABLE TO CHOOSE THE ENTERTAINMENT THEY WANT I just don't think it belongs on the public airwaves, or in PG movies.
[I never thought I'd hear myself say that. Besides that, I have plenty of thoughts on the matter of bedroom scenes in movies and on TV, but that's another blog.]

The sexy scene was far from steamy because Jennifer Aniston insisted on covering up from head-to-toe and using a prop cushion to ensure John C. Reilly didn't get too close for comfort.
Actor John C. Reilly was left red-faced on the set of romantic comedy "The Good Girl" when he had to simulate sex with a clearly-uncomfortable Jennifer Aniston. The pair star as husband and wife in the 2002 film and one scene sees the odd movie couple get intimate in the bedroom.
But Reilly admits what was meant to be a sexy scene was far from steamy because Aniston insisted on covering up from head-to-toe and using a prop cushion to ensure the stars didn't get too close for comfort. He says, "It's all dark and she's a little tense 'cause a sex scene is going to happen."
"So I get there and she's under the covers and I'm like, 'OK, I guess they just want me to get in position here.' This is one of my favorite actresses. I thought I'd collect all the various bit and pieces I have found out about her on the Internet, and especially clips of her various roles on YouTube and such. She's a little-known actress, and that dovetails with my love of the obscure. Anyway, since I enjoy whatever I find out about her, I thought it'd post some of the things I have found.
She is best known (and almost only known) for her role as Donna in a few Cheech and Chong movies. They are usually a shorter role, with one or two scenes. Things are Tough All Over (1982), Nice Dreams (1981), Cheech and Chong's Next Movie (1980). My favorite is Nice Dreams where she has a her longest part and her most plot-central character, although the Next Movie is very memorable as well. Tough wasn't very impressive at all; a much smaller bit role; a let down, but not her fault.

Ms. Guerrero also played Mrs. Ramirez on a family sitcom back in the 80s, The Facts of Life, appearing in one episode entitled "Adventures in Baileysitting" (She only appears in the last 1/4 of this clip about timeindex 5:20) (sadly, this is one of her better performances, but on the plus side she is stunning even in her minor role)
She was also a character named Maria in what looks like a low-budget horror movie in 1978, The Toolbox Murders. I haven't seen it, and not sure I want to, but apparently it's a highly exploitive, masochistic, erotic little slasher film, actually with a few "famous" scenes. Stephen King reportedly had a few nice things to say. I thought she was an actress (or other things) featured in The Mummy: Dragon Emperor's Tomb. Then I found this: "Yang and Choi are killed by Evelyn and Lin when they attempt to ..." hahaha Nope, a quick scan on imdb confirms it: she's never branched into mainstream cinema. A shame, I think.
Well, Charisma (of Buffy and Angel fame) isn't quite the biggest face in the movie, but she is to me. As far as I can tell without doing my research, this is one of first silver screen movies she has done, if not THE first.
